'Exhalations I'

I have a recurring dream in which I dive underwater and begin swimming. I breast-stroke for a time, or sometimes I sink to the bottom and look up towards the surface. I wait for my lungs to catch fire, but it never happens. In that moment, I realize I'm dreaming and take the most exquisite full breath of air. I feel my chest expand in the real world, serotonin and dopamine swirl through my bloodstream, and slowly I exhale. I watch as bubbles slowly float upwards. Ah, it feels good to be alive in this body.
