A strangler fig grows from a seed nestled in a host tree’s crevice. Its roots reach down as it climbs toward sunlight, eventually enveloping its host. It may leave a hollow column when the original tree dies, but can also provide support, shielding it from storms. Just so, my own creative seed lay dormant during a decade in engineering, only to burst into life and overtake my world in the last year. Where my two lives intersect, unexpected beauty has bloomed, like the mushrooms sprouting between the two organisms. This print is inspired by a beautiful strangler fig I encountered in Chiang Rai and was printed as a collaboration with the wonderful folks at JOJO Kobe Gallery in Chiang Mai.
