This original print has two stories behind it: firstly, it's inspired by the beautiful work of Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen, 'At Rest In The Dark Wood.' His watercolor/ink illustrates the beautiful book "East of The Sun and West of The Moon," a personal favorite of mine. Secondly, it reimagines the age-old adage "don't lose the forest for the trees." Looking around today, I feel that we have the opposite problem - most of us are so absorbed in the forest, the high-level goal, that we forget to admire each individual tree. This piece explores a moment of solitude, reflection, and introspection in nature while paying homage to one of my favorite artists.
One-of-one oil ink monotype in 10+ layers on Legion Stonehenge 250 gsm paper with deckled edges. Signed and stamped by the artist.
Framed in a white gallery frame with archival float-mounting (16" x 19" frame).
