Urania, Revisited (We Contain Cosmos) returns to the Greek Muse of astronomy, long associated with humanity’s impulse to look upward and search for order in the unknown. Modeled after a different angle of Giovanni Dupré’s Urania marble, this version turns the focus inward. The body reclines in quiet stillness, its surface traced with circular markings that echo planetary motion, while silver leaf stars scatter across a darkened sky.

Where the earlier Urania leaned toward the lofty and celestial, this work shifts its attention toward knowledge held closer to earth—worldly study, accumulated thought, the kind contained in books as much as in constellations. Rather than placing the cosmos at a distance, it suggests that the same patterns that map the heavens are inscribed within us, and that inward knowledge deserves as much trust as distant stars. We contain cosmos.
